Varadero is to the top beach destination in Cuba , attracting an international clientele ranging from English/French speaking Canadians, Europeans and South Americans. This 25km isthmus 2 hours outside of Havana features calm turqoise waters and one of the finest white sand beaches in all of the Caribbean.
Developed by the government of Cuba as an economic development zone. Its a bastion of capitalism in one of the world's last true communist states. Dozens of ultra modern Super Resorts align the beach front while small arts and crafts stores pay hommage to Cuba's "Revolution" through souvenirs depicting Che Guevara's victory.
Apart from their love of rum, salsa and fine cigars; Cubans really love their cars. Its not uncommon to see 1950 ish model Chevy's / Ford's cruising down the street with the sounds of Salsa blasting over the stereo. Also common are cars from the Soviet era - The Fiat inspired and Russian built "Lada".

Cheap package vacations abound year round out of Canada and Europe. The winter monthes, December and January can be tempermental for weather. Hurricane season is from June - November.
