Aruba is a very hot, but windy place. One needs to ensure proper protection from the sun as heat stroke is a real problem. Direct flights connect Aruba with much of the US and Canada. The standard of living is quite high with all the amenities and usual franchised restaurants. Aruba along with its sister islands, Curacao and Bonaire ( A B C islands ) sit outside of the Caribbean hurricane belt. All 3 share special status as part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
