there are 6 islands to the Dutch Caribbean , Statia or St. Eustatius is by far the quietest and least known. Its also my favourite. The island offers hikers a chance to hike into an extinct volcanoe The Quill and its tropical rain forest. History Buffs will love the colonial Dutch town of Oranjestad. Divers will also enjoy the many world class dive sites.
Saba ; rises high up out of the sea, as an extinct volcanoe extending into the clouds. Its English speaking inhabitants are the descendants of Scottish pirates. The villages feature homes with a Ginger Bread style appearance. Unlike its sister islands, this island is very lush. A hiking paradise with virgin tropical rain forests.

St. Eustatius and Saba are part of the Netherlands Antillies. They are remote out posts of what was once the Dutch empire. The islands are serviced by small air plane transit connections out of Dutch Sint Maarten. The climate though tropical is moderated by the trade winds. The islands are within the Caribbean hurricane belt but are rarely scathed.
